About Concert Orchestra
Concert Orchestra is Southeastern Minnesota’s premier student instrumental ensemble for advanced student musicians who play a string, woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Participants will be challenged to perform original classical and contemporary works for full orchestra, with a focus on ensemble playing skills and musical style. Learn more.
Concert Orchestra meets Saturday mornings from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Century High School in Rochester.
All currently enrolled Concert Orchestra students are asked to submit a check-in audition to determine part assignments and principals.
Before recording your excerpts, it is critical (and expected) that you will listen to the piece fully to really understand the overall context of the style, tempo, performance practices, and overall vibe of the pieces. Your audition does not need to be fully up to tempo, but it should capture the essence and excitement of the pieces.
It is your responsibility to be aware of the tempo and style of each excerpt
Please upload your video to YouTube and set as “unlisted” and submit it using the submission form on the audition portal.
Auditions are due on August 16, 11:59 PM.
